Taiwanese Hot Pot |
This will be the second of my two part picture series of what I ate in Taiwan on my past trip back.

Aoba |
One of my friends took me out for some Taiwanese cuisine at Aoba.

Vegetarian Buffet @ Spring Day |
I did dine at one of my mom's favorite stops: Spring Day. I don't think vegetarian buffet is really my cup of tea....
Fresh Squid and Fish Ball Paste |
One Can't Have Too Much Ma-La Hot Pot, Right? |
Neighborhood Taiwanese Breakfast Stand |
Although I love my fan-tuan and soymilk, this was my idea of a Taiwanese breakfast. During my two week stay, I stopped by about 5 times. Even in the hot and humid weather, I loved sweating through a steaming bowl of rice noodle soup and accompaniments.

And I'll save the best for last. Dessert!
Mango Shaved Snow |
After having this shaved snow, I thought the ones served at Class 302 in Rowland Heights were quite similar.
Almond Tofu Shaved Snow @ Yu's Almond Tofu |
Thanks to a recommendation from Joan, I visited Yu's Almond Tofu for some almond tofu shaved snow. I absolutely loved it. The flavor of the almond was subtle yet remained quite fragrant. On a warm day in Taipei, this absolutely hit the spot.
Tsai's Mi Tai Mu Ice |
This was something I've never had before. My friends took me to Tsai's, which was located near their home in Linkou County, outside Taipei. Basically, it's Taiwanese shaved ice, but the key ingredient was the (米苔目) or this rice noodle. Strange? Yes it was, but it added a nice texture to the shaved ice. There's a reason why this place has been around for many years in the area. It's always packed!
Mi Tai Mu Bing |
Pineapple Ice @ Cheng Du Ice Shop in Ximending |
I went back to Cheng Du Ice Shop for some pineapple ice this time around.
I'll close out my Taiwan picture post with one of my favorite things to eat!
Mister Donut |
For those that know me, I absolutely hate fried dough. I can't get the oily texture out of my head I guess. But...the two exceptions are Donut Plant in New York City and Mister Donut in Asia. I almost always get their green tea donuts. Dericious! :)
That's all folk, starting tomorrow, more posts in the good ol' U S of A!

Great post! Everything looks so good, especially the fried squid balls, fried tofu, and Taiwanese Oden. I'm hoping to make a trip out there this fall.
Your posts are making me miss Taiwan so much! Mister donuts is definitely on my list. That cute bear! Saw it on a few blogs. The shaved ice with the rice noodles is interesting. Mmm, almond snow sounds good. Well everything sounds good. Except maybe the vegetarian buffet.
Yeah, these post makes me want to go back there now.
CUTEST DONUT EVER.
Amy: At least we have the SGV. Although it's not the same, we could have it a lot worse!
Daniel: I'll be there this Fall as well. When are you going?
Jenn: Ya, pass on the vegetarian buffet. I'm sure you'll eat very well in Taiwan :)
BigFire: You should!
WM: Haha, I agree. Too bad I had to break it apart!
Wow! So much food crammed into one post... I am intrigued by the shaved snow with rice noodles. The green bear, on the other hand, kind of frightens me ;-)
